pulsating Pandava dance, Chakravyuh,
Kamalvyuh and dramas describing the famous instance of “Jaidrath Vadh by
Arjuna” on Day

was followed by a presentation by Uttarakhandi artists, primarily villagers,
on the culture of `Badi’, now sadly facing extinction, despite vigorous attempts at its
revival. One such brave attempt was witnessed at this festival, thousands of
miles from its place of origin.
Shri Harak Singh
Rawat addressing the audience said, “Kauthig is the largest community festival of
Uttarakhand which tries to bring the pahari youth in Mumbai closer to
their culture and roots. Being away from our homeland, many of our youngsters
now a days don’t care much about Pahari tradition and community. This
festival aims to bridge the gap and encourages them to appreciate their pahari
art, culture and customs”
Around 10 thousand Uttarakhandis gathered each day to
celebrate the culture of Uttarakhand which was held for the 6th time
this year in Mumbai. The grand stage put up (a replica of the temple Jageshwar Mandir), was the

the festival Shri Ganesh Naik and Shri Manikrao Thakre not only praised the
performers and the people behind the big show but also promised to participate in next year’s yatra to Uttarakhand’s renowned
