Uttarakhand United registers a massive victory in UPL season II , wins by 70 runs

Uttarakhand United registered a massive victory over Uttarakhandi Boys, winning the fifth match of Uttarakhand Premier League -II by 70 runs. Uttarakhand United, playing on their home ground, set a massive target of 120 runs in 8 over’s, which proved a bit too much for Uttarakhandi Boys as they were bowled out for 50 runs.  Hoshiyarchand from the winning side was adjudged man of the match for his stunning knock of 57 not out (seven 4’s and four 6’s) in just 26 balls.
The second season of the Uttarakhand Premier League, which is being organized by Kauthik Foundation to unite the Uttarakhandi youth in Mumbai, commenced on a perfect note at Karnala Sport Complex, Panvel on December 15, 2013. The inaugural match was won by Uttarakhand Warriors defeating Mountain Tigers by 12 runs. Mountain Tigers after winning the toss invited Uttarakhand Warriors to bat first. They set a target of 69 runs in 8 over’s by losing five wickets. In reply, Mountain Tigers made 57 runs with the loss of five wickets. Nandan who received man of the match yellow cap, made valuable 20 runs for Uttarakhand Warriors and also helped his team by taking two important wickets.  


The second and third matches were won by Pithoragarh Tigers (defeated Humdum Pahadi by 9 runs) and Pithoragarh  Panthers (defeated Didihat Bagh  by 53 runs) respectively!

Match no. four was on by Kedareshwar Club by four wickets as they comfortably chased down Uttrakhand Golden Stars score 57 runs in the 7th over itself.

There are total of 24 teams featuring in #UPL #UttarakhandPremierLeague 2014. They will play total 23 knockout games, including the final on January 4, 2014.

The next 5 matches will be played on Sunday December 22, 2013 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, CBD, Belapur, Navi Mumbai. The remaining matches will be played at Dadoji Kondev Stadium, Thane on Wednesday, December 25 and Sunday, December 29, 2013.

The quarter, semi and the final matches will be played on 4 January 2014 at Dadoji Kondev Stadium, Thane. "The winning team will be awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The runner up will receive cash prize worth Rs 15, 000 and a trophy" said Mr Keshar Singh Bist, Secretary, Kauthik Foundation. 

Mr Yogeshwar Sharma,  President, Kauthik Foundation said "We had a fantastic tournament last  year when we launched Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) featuring 16 teams. This year 24 teams are featuring in UPL II and we are extremely happy with the response from Uttarakhandi youth across the metropolitan city, UPL is proving to be a great sporting platform to bring the Uttrakhandi people, specially youth together"

2ND MATCH: PITHORAGARH TIGERS (PT) (73/05 IN OVERS) VS HUMDUM PAHADI (HP) (64/7) Result -PT WON BY 9 RUNS. MOM: AMIT (38 RUNS 23 BALLS). 

3RD MATCH: PITHORAGARH PANTHERS (PP) ( 98/7 IN 8 OVERS) VS DIDHAT BAGH ( 45/9 IN 8 OVERS) Result- PP WON BY 53 RUNS. MOM YOGESH (27 RUNS IN 9 BALLS). 

4TH MATCH: UTTARAKHAND GOLDEN STARS (UGS) (57/10 IN 8 OVERS) VS. KEDARESHWAR CLUB (KC) (58/04 IN 6 OVERS)- Result- KC WON BY 6 WKTS. MOM BHARAT (34 RUNS IN 19 BALLS). 

5TH MATCH: UTTARAKHAND UNITED (UU) (120/2 IN 8 OVERS) VS. WE R UTTARAKHANDI BOYS (WRUB) (50/5 IN 8 OVERS) - Result -UU WON BY 70 RUNS. MOM: HOSHIYAR (57RUNS IN 26 BALLS)
